Academic
Curriculum

A rigorous, broad-based curriculum from Junior School through to O-Level, Matric and Intermediate — preparing Gallians for university and life.

Academic Excellence at Every Level

The curriculum at Lawrence College is designed to challenge and inspire students at every stage of their education. From the foundational years of Junior School through to the rigorous public examinations of Senior School, the academic programme is built around intellectual curiosity, disciplined study, and genuine depth of learning.

Lawrence College prepares students for examinations administered by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi, as well as the Cambridge University O-Level examination — giving graduates a strong dual qualification that is recognised both nationally and internationally.

Junior School Curriculum — Grades I–IV

The Junior School provides a nurturing, structured foundation in a small-class environment with a caring pastoral ethos. The curriculum is delivered through a blend of traditional methods and modern resources — including smart boards, computers, multimedia aids and a dedicated resource room with Montessori materials.

Regular reading practice is central to the Junior School programme, with supplementary story books maintained for every year group. The core values cultivated from the start are honesty, humility, courage, integrity and respect.

Junior School Core Subjects: English Language, Urdu, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Islamiat & Religious Studies, Drawing & Art. Daily physical activity and structured play are integral to the timetable from the earliest years.

Preparatory School Curriculum — Grades V–VII

The Preparatory School marks the transition from the class-teacher model of Junior School to specialist subject teaching. Students move between subject-specific classrooms and are taught by teachers who are experts in their disciplines — a significant step towards the academic rigour of Senior School.

The curriculum at Prep level balances traditional academic subjects with a rich programme of creative and practical disciplines, ensuring students develop broadly rather than narrowing too early.

Senior School Curriculum — Grades VIII–XII

The Senior School is the academic heart of Lawrence College, where students prepare for national and international public examinations. The curriculum is delivered at two levels — Secondary (Grades VIII–X) and Intermediate (Grades XI–XII) — with the option of the Cambridge O-Level pathway for the most academically able students.

Secondary School Certificate (Matric) — Grades VIII–X

Lawrence College prepares students for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) administered by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rawalpindi. At the SSC level, the college offers Science subjects only — reflecting its commitment to producing well-prepared graduates for Pakistan's most demanding university programmes.

Cambridge University O-Level — Grades IX–X

In parallel with the national curriculum, Lawrence College offers the internationally recognised Cambridge University O-Level examination. This dual qualification strengthens university applications both in Pakistan and abroad.

Higher Secondary School Certificate (Intermediate) — Grades XI–XII

At the Intermediate level, Lawrence College offers four subject groups:

Pre-Medical

Biology, Chemistry, Physics — the pathway for students pursuing medicine, dentistry and health sciences at university.

Pre-Engineering

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry — preparing students for engineering and technology degree programmes.

General Science

A broad science pathway for students whose university aspirations span multiple disciplines.

Computer Science

Programming, computing fundamentals and applied technology — for students pursuing IT, software engineering and related fields.

Examining Boards

Lawrence College students are examined by two boards:

  • Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi — for SSC (Matric) and HSSC (Intermediate) qualifications
  • Cambridge Assessment International Education — for Cambridge University O-Level qualifications

The combination of a rigorous national examination board and an internationally recognised Cambridge qualification gives Lawrence College graduates a strong foundation for admission to Pakistan's top universities as well as overseas institutions.
