The pinnacle of the Gallian experience — where leaders are forged and a lifetime's character is set.

The Culmination of the Gallian Experience

The Senior School caters for students of Classes VIII to XII, including the O' Level from Cambridge University. It is the final and most formative stage of the Lawrence College journey — where affiliation and competition on the basis of the house system is at its keenest and most dominant.

Each house becomes an institution by itself, run under the supervision of a housemaster, assistant housemasters and house tutors, providing boys of each house with an excellent platform for mentoring, guidance and leadership. The administration comprises a headmaster, a deputy headmaster and four housemasters. The faculty comprises 35 experienced teachers.

Senior Gallians graduate as young men of character, ready to take on the world. For many, the Passing-Out Parade is the beginning of a deep and lifelong pride in having been an Old Gallian of Lawrence College.

Academic Roadmap

The Senior School prepares pupils for the Secondary School Certificate (Matriculation) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (Intermediate) examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rawalpindi, and the O' Level Examination of Cambridge University.

Only science subjects are taught at the SSC level. In Intermediate, boys are prepared in Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering and General Science Groups including Computer Science. In an academic year there are fortnightly tests and three examinations: 1st Term, Mid-Term and the Annual. The results of the examinations, together with the Housemaster's and Principal's reports, are conveyed to parents/guardians, and below-standard performance in the periodic tests is also reported to keep them apprised of their son's progress. Parent-Teacher meetings are held after the Mid-Term Examination to allow a tripartite coordination for the improvement of each pupil's efficiency.

The Prefect System & Leadership

Top pupils in academics and related co-curricular activities are appointed prefects, responsible for translating student-related policies of the College into action. The housemaster plays a vital role in polishing, grooming and advising the pupils of his house to bring out the sterling qualities of their character and leadership.

Houses have dormitories and common rooms, with organised excursions and inter-house competitions in academics, sports, debates and social activities. The Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy are the most senior student leaders, occupying positions of great prestige and responsibility throughout college life.

Counselling and Guidance Cell

Senior School focuses on the guidance and counselling of students. The faculty plays a vital role in the grooming of students and helping them realise their full potential for their future studies and profession. Special events are held and experts are invited for professional counselling.

The College Career Counselling Cell, established in 2017 and consisting of five members, is actively functioning and provides guidance to students throughout the year — for higher education, scholarships and the right choice of professions and disciplines according to each student's aptitude. The Cell arranges seminars and meetings with experienced career counsellors, and Senior Gallians receive support on university selection, scholarship applications and professional career pathways in Pakistan and abroad.

The School aims at imparting quality education to young Gallians with the sole purpose of equipping them with better abilities and qualities of character and personality to face the challenges of their future life. The Senior School campus offers a wide range of resources to make study effective and fruitful, enabling students to make the best use of their time.

Academic Facilities

Academic Block. The Senior School has a purpose-built academic block with spacious classrooms and allied facilities. The state-of-the-art buildings make studies comfortable and enjoyable, and all classrooms were equipped with multimedia technology by 2020.

Hamid Library. The Senior School Library holds more than 16,000 books across different subjects, offering students ample opportunity for study and research. It also houses an Information and Research Centre that provides students and teachers with internet access to source material related to different fields of study.

To introduce Gallians to the glorious lives of our great leaders — Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal — the Quaid Gallery and Iqbal Gallery were established in the Senior School Library in 2018 and 2019. Since their inception they have charmed students and visitors with a magnificent display of a huge and rare collection of photographs. On entering the library lobby, the wall on the right displays photographs of the Gallians who sacrificed their lives for the nation in different wars, while the wall on the left portrays the makers of Pakistan — including Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and others.

An Iqbal Corner, containing books on the works of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, familiarises students with the ideas of the great poet and philosopher, and a Regional Languages Corner offers a collection of books in the regional languages of Pakistan for students to benefit from according to their interest.

Anderson Science Block. LCGG has well-equipped science laboratories that give students the opportunity for practical work across the different faculties of science. All laboratories are fitted with modern equipment and relevant scientific material.

Language Lab. The Senior School provides a purpose-built language lab equipped with modern audio and visual equipment to help pupils improve their communication skills, especially speaking and listening.

Computer Lab. The Senior School Computer Lab provides IT facilities for Computer Science students, with around 50 PCs in use and internet provided through a fast broadband network.

Seminar Hall. The Seminar Hall is used primarily for public presentations and lectures.

Prep Halls. The Prep Halls are comfortable places where pupils can study in peace without interference. Staff are always available to help and guide the boys of the House in their curricular and co-curricular activities, regularly liaising with boarders to ensure they work to their full potential. Two new Prep Halls, for Wright and Walker House, were constructed in 2019 to provide a better study environment.

Sports & Recreation Facilities

Playing Fields. The Senior School has many playing fields, including an athletics field, a hockey and football stadium, four basketball courts and two squash courts. Two new basketball courts were constructed and the main basketball court renovated in 2019.

Gymnasium. Gallians have plenty of opportunity for indoor games and exercise. The College Gymnasium has the capacity of a full-size basketball court and also offers badminton and table tennis.

The New Gymnasium. A new Gymnasium was constructed near Jamali Stadium to provide better exercise facilities to Gallians, staff and families. The Principal, Brig (Retd) Mujahid Alam, inaugurated it on 26 October 2017. The old exercise equipment has been renovated and new machines purchased; the spacious hall, with machines and mirrors on all four sides, presents an energising scene that motivates visitors to take care of their health and physique.

Boarding Comforts & Entertainment

Common / TV Rooms. Every House has an attached common room with TV and music facilities. Three new common rooms — for Wright, Walker and Peake House — were constructed between 2019 and 2020, providing students with a range of entertainment facilities.

Hamid Hall. Hamid Hall is the College auditorium, equipped with a full-size screen for films and documentaries. It is also used for drama presentations, variety shows and guest speakers.

Cafeteria, Dining & Services

Cafeteria & Services. The Senior School has a cafeteria and a general store where cold and hot drinks and meals are available. Students can buy items of daily need and food of their choice. The shopping centre also includes a uniform and hosiery store, a shoe store and a barber shop, while a shoemaker and tailor remain present to provide necessary services.

College Bakery. Lawrence College believes in adapting to rising challenges through a need-based approach focused on the LCGG community's needs and requirements. A long-standing need for a bakery providing fresh, nutritious, hygienic and cost-effective items to students and staff was met when the College Bakery began functioning in mid-January 2022. It is well-equipped with modern baking units, professionally trained chefs and quality-controlled ingredients.

Dining Halls. Our dining halls provide a pleasant and spacious environment in which pupils can enjoy their mealtimes. All food is cooked and prepared in our own kitchens from fresh ingredients each day, and the catering team actively promotes healthy choices. Dining Hall II was expanded in 2020 to accommodate students more comfortably.

Co-curricular Life

Sports & Games. Organised games play an important role in boarding life at every level. Inter-house competitions are held in cricket, football, hockey, athletics, squash, tennis, marathon, PT and gymnastics, culminating in the winning of the Quaid-e-Azam Shield.

Clubs & Societies. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Fine Arts, Photography, Drama and Debating societies function throughout the year, making a real effort to encourage healthy trends and ensure the multidimensional development of pupils' personalities.

Religious Guidance. The Islamiat Department teaches the rudiments of tafseer through regular classes. There are two mosques in the College where Khateebs conduct regular prayers, and attendance at Zuhr, Maghrib and Jumma prayers is ensured. Adequate arrangements for Nazira Quran are available for lateral entries, and Husn-e-Qirat competitions form part of the inter-house competitions. In 2021, the main hall of the Senior School Masjid was expanded to accommodate a larger number of devotees in all weather conditions.

Medical Care & Security

Sick Bay. The Senior School Sick Bay provides basic treatment and first aid. Every morning the RMO (Resident Medical Officer) visits the Sick Bay to examine sick students. In cases of serious illness, students are referred to the College Hospital or CMH Murree.

Campus Security. Security at the Senior School campus has been reinforced through multiple resources.

Passing-Out Parade

The Passing-Out Parade is the formal ceremony marking the completion of Senior School and the departure of the final-year class from Lawrence College. It is a day of great ceremony and emotion — a formal parade, speeches, the College Song, and the symbolic moment when each Gallian passes through the college gates for the last time as a student.

From that day forward, they are Old Gallians — members of a community that spans 166 years and includes some of Pakistan's most distinguished citizens. The Passing-Out Parade is not an ending but a beginning.
