The College
Museum

166 years of Gallian history preserved in one extraordinary collection.

A Living Archive

The Lawrence College Museum is the custodian of the college's extraordinary 166-year history. It was established in 1998 and later upgraded in 2017 and again in 2020 with new exhibits and improved displays. Its collections span artefacts, photographs, documents, sporting trophies, artwork and memorabilia from across the full span of the college's existence — from its founding in 1860 to the present day.

For current students, the museum is a window into the Gallian past — a tangible connection to the generations who came before them, who walked the same corridors, played on the same fields, and forged the same unbreakable bonds of brotherhood. For Old Gallians returning to Ghora Gali, it is a place of memory and recognition.

Educational Value

The museum is not merely a passive repository — it is an active educational resource. Students visit the museum as part of their understanding of Lawrence College's history and place in Pakistan's national story. The museum's collections are used in history lessons and research projects, bringing the past to life for each new generation of Gallians.

Old Gallians who visit the museum frequently find photographs of themselves, their housemates and their mentors — a powerful reminder of the continuity of the Gallian community across time.

Quaid & Iqbal Galleries

The Quaid Gallery (2018) and the Iqbal Gallery (2019) were established in the Senior School Library. These permanent installations honour the two most significant figures in Pakistan's founding story:

  • Quaid Gallery — celebrating the life, leadership and legacy of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, with photographs, documents and interpretive displays
  • Iqbal Gallery — dedicated to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, philosopher, poet and the intellectual inspiration behind Pakistan, featuring portraits, poetry and contextual materials

These galleries serve as educational resources, inspiring students with the examples of Pakistan's greatest leaders and deepening their understanding of the national narrative in which Lawrence College itself plays a significant part.

Maj Gen Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence Collection

A dedicated section of the museum is devoted to the life and legacy of Maj Gen Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence — the college's founder. Materials in this collection include biographical works, portraits, and contextual exhibits placing Lawrence's life in the broader history of the Indian subcontinent.

The collection includes reproductions of significant documents from Lawrence's career and, where available, items connected directly to the Lawrence family and to the founding of the Lawrence Schools network.
