Thurley
Hospital

Dedicated medical care for Gallians — on-campus healthcare since the college's earliest days.

The College Hospital

The Thurley Hospital is Lawrence College's on-campus medical facility, providing healthcare to students and staff throughout the academic year. Named after a distinguished figure in the college's history, the hospital ensures that medical care is always available to Gallians without the need to travel down the mountain to Murree or Rawalpindi.

The presence of an on-campus hospital is one of the features that distinguishes Lawrence College from many other boarding schools. Parents can have confidence that their sons are in capable medical hands at all times, whether dealing with routine illness, sports injuries or more serious health concerns.

  • Sports Injury Treatment — first aid and physiotherapy support for sports injuries

Healthcare at Altitude

At 6,395 feet above sea level, Lawrence College's location presents specific healthcare considerations. Newly arrived students occasionally require an acclimatisation period as their bodies adjust to the reduced oxygen levels. The Thurley Hospital staff are experienced in managing altitude-related health considerations.

The mountain climate also means that cold-related illnesses are more common than at lower altitudes, particularly in winter. The hospital is well-equipped to manage respiratory infections, and proactive measures including appropriate clothing requirements and heated dormitories are in place to minimise illness.

Communication with Parents

Parents are informed promptly whenever their son requires medical treatment beyond routine care. The hospital maintains medical records for all students and communicates with parents about health matters that may affect their son's performance or wellbeing.

For students with pre-existing medical conditions, the hospital works closely with parents and the student's own doctor to ensure appropriate care plans are in place before the student arrives. Parents are encouraged to provide a full medical history upon enrolment.
