Beyond the Gates of Ghora Gali
The boarding school environment is, by its nature, an enclosed world. Tours and excursions are therefore an essential part of the Lawrence College experience — they take Gallians beyond the gates of Ghora Gali, expose them to different environments and cultures, and develop the global perspective that today's world demands of its leaders.
Lawrence College organises tours at both local and international level, ensuring that students have opportunities for educational enrichment, cultural discovery and the particular formative experience of travel that opens young minds to the breadth and diversity of the world.
United Kingdom & Turkey Tour
In 2026, Lawrence College students undertook a landmark international educational tour to the United Kingdom and Turkey — one of the most ambitious overseas programmes in the college's recent history.
United Kingdom
Students visited leading British universities, historical sites and cultural institutions, gaining insight into British educational traditions — including visits to institutions with historical connections to Lawrence College's British-era heritage. The tour included London, Oxford and other cities of historical significance.
- University campus visits — Oxford, Cambridge region
- Historical and cultural sites in London
- Museums and galleries of international significance
- Networking with Pakistani diaspora and Old Gallians abroad
- Exposure to international educational standards and culture
Turkey
Turkey offered a different but equally enriching dimension of the tour — a Muslim-majority country with deep historical and cultural significance, including Istanbul's extraordinary blend of Byzantine and Ottoman heritage. The Turkey leg of the tour provided cultural and religious context particularly meaningful for the college's Muslim students.
- Istanbul — Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace
- Ottoman heritage and Islamic architecture
- Turkish universities and educational institutions
- Cultural exchange and Turkish hospitality
- Historical perspective on Islamic civilisation
