A Sporting Community for All
While Lawrence College is justly proud of its achievements in the major sports, the minor sports programme ensures that every Gallian has the opportunity to find his sporting passion and develop it to the highest level his talent allows. The minor sports are no less keenly contested than the major ones — inter-house competition runs across all sports, and the best minor sports players achieve recognition throughout the college.
Squash
Lawrence College has squash courts on campus and a strong tradition in this sport. The college has produced squash players who have gone on to compete at regional and national levels. Pakistan's historic strength in world squash is reflected in the enthusiasm with which Gallians take to the game.
Badminton
Badminton courts and equipment are available to students throughout the year. The sport is particularly popular during the cooler months and is actively contested in the inter-house competition. Badminton develops speed, precision and reflexes — qualities that transfer well to other sports.
Table Tennis
Table tennis is a favourite indoor sport at Lawrence College, played in the houses and in dedicated common areas. Inter-house table tennis competition is popular across all age groups and skill levels, making it one of the most inclusive sports at the college.
Basketball
Basketball is played on the college's outdoor courts and has gained increasing popularity in recent years. The sport's demands for teamwork, agility and strategic thinking make it an excellent complement to the other sports in the Lawrence College programme.
Wrestling & Martial Arts
Traditional wrestling (kushti) and modern martial arts disciplines are offered as part of the broader physical development programme at Lawrence College, reflecting both Pakistani sporting traditions and the college's commitment to developing physical strength and discipline.
Hiking & Adventure
Lawrence College's mountain location enables unique outdoor activities including hiking, nature walks and adventure sports. The surrounding Murree Hills provide a natural adventure playground that develops physical fitness, resilience and environmental awareness in equal measure.
Archery
Archery develops concentration, discipline and precision — qualities that translate directly into academic and personal performance. The sport is available as part of the college's broad physical development programme, with equipment and instruction provided on campus.
Karate
Karate is offered as part of the martial arts programme at Lawrence College, developing self-discipline, respect, focus and physical fitness. Students progress through belt levels under qualified instruction, gaining both technical skill and the mental fortitude that martial arts uniquely builds.
Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a core component of the physical education programme, developing strength, flexibility, balance and coordination in students across all three schools. The Senior School gymnasium provides full facilities for gymnastics training and inter-house competitions.
Horse Riding
Horse riding is offered during the summer months, taking advantage of the ideal mountain climate and terrain. It is one of Lawrence College's most distinctive activities — developing poise, confidence, responsibility and an appreciation for the natural environment of the Murree Hills.
Sports for Every Gallian
The philosophy underlying Lawrence College's sporting programme is that every student should be physically active, competitive in at least one sport, and should develop through sporting challenge the qualities of character — perseverance, grace in victory and defeat, and team spirit — that sport uniquely builds.
Whether a Gallian excels in cricket or table tennis, athletics or squash, the inter-house competition system ensures that every sport is valued and that every sporting achievement is celebrated within the college community.
